Gas V/S Electric-Which Golf Cart is Right for You?
Today we live in a world full of options; Benz or SUV, Cricket or football, Pink or black? The options are numerous. However it makes our choices difficult. More the option, more difficult it is to make a choice. Similarly even golfers face this dilemma whether to go for gas or electric operated golf cart.
Deciding between golf carts can be the first major decision while buying a new golf cart. For a newbie this can be a daunting task as they stand in an alien territory unfamiliar with the attributes of both. Like every other option, there are pros and cons for each and one must give it thorough consideration before jumping right into it, because for golfers choosing between golf carts is as significant as for photographers to choose between lenses.
Application:
Whenever buying a new golf cart, the question that pops up in your head is which one is better, gas or electric? However it solely depends on your preference and how you plan to use your cart. Do you want power or you want to be environment friendly?
If you are an average user then any one of the cart will do for a perfect recreational vehicle. With electric golf carts you won’t require oiling and fueling plus they run silently. Gas golf carts on the other hand are noisy for obvious reasons and regular unleaded gas is required to run them.
Electric golf carts run on batteries, so if you have excessive use of golf carts then you better stick onto gas operated carts. And for those of you who go for camping usually, battery powered cart is not an option because if power is inaccessible to you then it will also be inaccessible for your cart.
Another important point is if you want to install any additional accessories to your cart such as fans, heaters, lights etc. all of this will require considerable amount of power. Even accessories on gas carts will also require power to run however the good part is gas carts feature a generator that charges the battery on its own. Still if any accessories are left on when cart is not running, will eventually destroy your battery.
Summing up, any type of cart will be good enough to move golfers around a golf course. Those who want more power will go for gas operated one. It entirely depends on your usage to be exact.
Maintenance:
Both types of the carts are light requirements when it comes to maintenance. For electric carts, one has to work on the maintenance of battery. These batteries can last for a long time if given proper maintenance and recharging. On the other hand, maintenance for gas operated is frequent oil changing and replacement of fuel filters, spark plugs and air filters. So that makes the cost of maintenance on both the carts almost the same. However, if you are not careful about your batteries then cost of changing them will be a setback for electric operated ones.
